Community Organizers sprint - Part 2
Workshop presented by: Gareth Thomas
During PyCon NL 2026, at 14:50 in Flash

This is the second half of the session that started in Part 1.

What actually makes a Python community thrive?

Running a community is about much more than organizing events. How do we find great speakers? Grow participation? Recruit volunteers? Keep organizers motivated? Find sponsorship? Build an inclusive culture? And perhaps most importantly: how do we make sure our community can thrive without depending on one or two people?

Join Gareth Thomas for a 2-hour interactive session for Python community organizers and leaders from across the Netherlands. We’ll share experiences, discuss the challenges we’re facing, and, most importantly, learn from each other.

šŸ’¬ We’ll talk about:

  • Growing participation
  • Finding and supporting speakers
  • Volunteers & organizer burnout
  • Sponsorship & funding
  • Inclusion & community culture
  • Keeping communities healthy and sustainable

No slides full of “10 secrets to successful communities.” šŸ˜„ You are the experts. Let’s put that experience in the room.

Different communities. Same Python. Stronger together.
